University of Hertfordshire shortlisted for University of the year
08 Sep 2025
The University of Hertfordshire (UH) has been named a finalist for University of the Year at the 2025 Times Higher Education Awards, one of the UK’s most prestigious honours in higher education.
The shortlist recognises a year of outstanding achievements for both the university and Hertfordshire International College (HIC), including a record 11.5% rise in international student recruitment and the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, making UH the only UK university to win the prize in 2024. Additionally, major investments in world-class facilities have further strengthened the university’s reputation. These include Spectra, a £100m engineering hub, the UK’s new Biodetection Technologies Hub backed by a £13.5m grant, and plans for Hertfordshire’s first Medical School, set to open in 2026. Later this year, the university will also unveil Propeller Stage One, a commercial film studio.
These milestones stand as a testament to the University of Hertfordshire’s unwavering commitment to progress and development.
Furthermore, the student experience has been equally impressive, with record satisfaction scores and more than 4,600 visitors attending the annual Festival of Ideas.
For students choosing Hertfordshire International College (HIC) – the official pathway provider for international students to the University of Hertfordshire – this global recognition reaffirms their decision and assures them they are on the right path towards unlocking a brilliant future.
The winners of the THE Awards will be announced on 13 November in Edinburgh – stay tuned.
